The Chamber Foundation Spotlight

Foundation joins #GivingTuesday movement Nov. 28

The Chamber Foundation, Inc. has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring this year on November 28, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the US) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. #GivingTuesday helps kick off the holiday giving season by inspiring people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

Contributions on Giving Tuesday to the 2018 Chamber Foundation Campaign aids efforts to continually enhance programming and leadership development curriculum including:

  • Youth Leadership– currently serving over 80 Dutchess County high school students
  • Leadership Dutchess - 29 working adult professionals enrolled in the Class of 2018
  • Leadership Connections Mentorship Program - 38 Poughkeepsie High School students paired with 14 community professionals for the 2017-2018 school year.
  • The Dutchess Youth One Stop Program – currently working with over 130 at-risk youth to complete educational goals and find careers right here in the Hudson Valley.
  • Nearly half-a-million scholarship dollars awarded since 2001.
  • And much more….
  • “With access to increased support and stronger programming, youth and adults find pride in their individual growth and current accomplishments, while developing a vision for the future,” said Foundation Executive Director Nicholas Shannon. “Donor support is vital to ensuring our next generation will be ready to take on the challenges of tomorrow, today.”

The Chamber Foundation, Inc., is excited to announce the keynote speaker for the 2017 ATHENA Awards Reception will be Dr. Kathy E. Magliato, MD, MBA, FACS.

Dr. Magliato’s personal and professional successes tie into the ATHENA Leadership Model, which captures the spirit and collaborative leadership style often exemplified in women leaders, while also recognizing the importance of courageous acts and fierce advocacy in pursuit of excellence.

The ATHENA Awards reception, scheduled for Thursday, November 30, will be at Villa Borghese in Wappingers Falls from 5-8 p.m. and will feature the ATHENA honorees being recognized for their accomplishments in their careers, community volunteer involvement, and willingness to serve as a mentor – especially to women in the business community. She has been highlighted by the media as an expert in heart disease and has been seen on numerous national networks and television talk shows. Her memoir “Heart Matters” was published in 2010 and was made into a medical drama on NBC in 2015.
